OuseLife Artists

We are a dynamic group of diverse artists, who meet regularly to draw from life, and who also exhibit regularly. You can view our work on our Artist and Exhibition pages. Our most recent, and very successful,  exhibition was “After the Fall” sited throughout Ely Cathedral, May 2022. The exhibition catalogue is still online, should you wish to refer to it.

The OuseLife Drawing group started in February 1997 with a small group of artists who met weekly amongst the woodworking machinery of the New from Old Bespoke Furniture workshop, and in the lofty regions of the former St John’s Church, Little Ouse.

We now have a new home at St Peter’s Church, Prickwillow, where our current membership of over 20 diverse artists, all living within a 15 mile radius of Ely, continue to meet weekly during term times.

There is no tuition, the philosophy of the group being to provide a space, venue and a model, from which to work in whichever way the artist chooses.  The artists are constructively critical and supportive of each other’s work, allowing growth and change to occur.

Over the past 24 years we have staged many successful exhibitions and continue to do so and see exhibiting as an integral, challenging and exciting part of OuseLife membership.

The life drawing sessions provide a regular practice, discipline and observation which are essential in developing the skills of the artists, laying the groundwork to take on the challenges the artists set themselves.  They also form the framework in which we can connect as artists and share our creativity, which is extensive.
