I am a textile artist and painter based in Littleport, Cambridgeshire. My chosen media are hand-stitched silk patchwork and charcoal ink painting, both being traditional Korean techniques.
I was brought up in a small fishing village on the East coast of Korea, and my early vivid memories are of the sandy beach behind my house where I spent almost every day, drawing pictures and writing in the sand.
My father, a stamp-maker and calligrapher, taught me to draw and paint. My patchwork incorporates fragments of recycled Korean traditional clothing from my family and relatives. My inspiration often comes from nature and found things.
